The Lovely Yurt Company is situated in Fell Foot Woods just 10 minutes walk from the shore of Lake Windermere.
The Woodland. Fell Foot Wood is natural, ancient woodland with a large variety of tree species including Ash, Birch, Sycamore, Beech, Oak, Mountain Ash, Holly, Hazel, Larch, Sweet Chestnut, Alder, Wild Cherry and a circle of Yews. In Spring time the daffodils and bluebells add carpets of colour. The wood affords spectacular views over Lake Windermere which really open up in the wintertime.
At the entrance to the woodland is a wood yard and shop which sells logs, coal, candles, hammocks etc. Please be aware that that Fell Foot Wood is not a traditional campsite. It is a 20 acre private woodland which is home to our two yurts and also allows small scale camping for up the 7 tents only - so there is space and privacy for all.
The woodland facilities are as follows:
Shower. There is a stream fed, hot shower available for the sole use of Yurt dwellers. Whilst being enclosed, the shower provides great views to enhance your cleansing experience.
Toilets. Clean, basic, flushing toilets including basins with cold running water. Attached to the toilet block is a covered area with a sink and drainer and hot running water (for washing up etc.)
Parking. There is parking for one car at the yurt but for those that do not want a car parked nearby there is an additional parking area by the toilets (1-2 mins walk away)
Water We will provide you with a 10-litre container of drinking water. There is clean water, on tap, readily available in the woods, this water is not recommended for drinking but can be used for washing up etc.
Fuel You will be welcomed by a ready built fire in the stove for you to light upon arrival. We will provide some spare fuel and additional logs & coal can be purchased from the shop at the woods entrance.
Opposite the entrance to the woodland is Fell Foot Country Park. The Park sits on the Lake Shore and has a Café, gift shop and rowing boat hire facilities as well as launch facilities for private boats (seasonal)
The summit of Gummers How can be reached in 30 minutes walk from your Yurt door. The view from the top is one of the best in the Lake District; the 360% panorama rewards you with views of the lake, Coniston Fells and Morecambe Bay.
